Character Biography

The right hand of Count St. Cross could not be more beautiful or dangerous. Furia, the sultry Italian femme-fatale, was one of the most feared assassins in all of Europe. Originally a street orphan, she was kidnapped at age 9 and taken to a remote island off Crete. The island was owned by a wealthy businessman named Castrano, who kept a secret training camp in the forest. There, he raised young girls to become elite mafia assassins.

They would be trained in the art of killing, using poisons, ballistics, and hand-to-hand weapons. They would also be tutored in social etiquette, deception, seduction, and disguise. When they came of age, the girls would be released into society as assassins ready for assignment. The organization was known simply as "The Pheonix." The training camp was referred to as "The Fire," and the girls who graduated as assassins were known as "Feathers."

Their weapons, be it knives, garrots, swords or bullets, all had the image of a feather engraved on their surface…a calling card to warn those who found the bodies that they had been killed by the Pheonix.

Castrano would receive contracts, and then activate whichever of his girls were most fitted to the task. They were paid well, but the life was dangerous, and if a Feather tried to run away, her sisters would be sent in to kill her.

Furia graduated, and was sent to Venice to start a life for herself. She began to receive assignments, and carried out the killings with great efficiency. Usually, she was deployed within Italy proper, but there were occasions when she traveled abroad. Twice, it was Portugal, one time, Greece...but it was to Austria that she was given a very specific assignment.

There was a man by the name of Count St. Cross who had employed the Pheonix several times before. This time, however, HE was the one being hunted. The man after him was none other than the criminal mastermind, NOIR. The particulars of why the two were at war made little difference. Count St. Cross was a high-paying client of the Pheonix, and Furia was dispatched to act as his bodyguard.

It was a dark night in Vienna proper when Noir entered the Count St. Cross Mansion. The Doctor's personal security personnel were killed in passing as the French Shadow moved through the house. But when Noir entered the bedroom, he was unaware that the Doctor was not alone beneath the covers. A normal person would not have been able to shoot him fast enough, but Furia was the sharpest of the Feathers, and managed to land not one, but TWO bullets in the man.

Noir escaped with his life that night, but Furia had failed to make the kill, and the good Doctor would still be in jeopardy. So, she was ordered to stay on with him until Noir came back, or one of the other Feathers was able to kill him.

Then one night, Furia received a letter calling all of the Feathers back to the Fire. It was something that was only ever done when one of their number had defected from the organization. All of the Feathers would meet, and Castrano would divulge the identity of the sister they needed to hunt-down and kill.

Furia waited till Dr. Nemsis was safely hidden before returning to the island where she had grown up. She got there late.

Everyone was dead.

All of the Feathers had been killed. Castrano was dead, too, and all of the remnants of battle...shell casings, knives, swords, everything, was engraved with the feather of the Pheonix. No one from the outside had done it...it must've been the rogue Feather. The only evidence out of the ordinary was the fact that Castrano himself had been crucified...pinned to a large wooden cross with Feather-engraved throwing knives.

Furia buried her sisters, and the man who had raised her, then burned the complex to the ground. As she left the island, she vowed to find the traitor, and avenge the deaths of everyone she'd come to know as family.

She returned to Count St. Cross, and he offered to bank-roll her revenge as long as she remained his personal bodyguard and assassin. Furia had no other income at that point, and even though the Pheonix was dead, she still felt obligated to uphold the last contract she had undertaken. Noir was still alive, and someday, would come for Count St. Cross again. Once the French crimelord was dead, then she could re-evaluate.

Since then, she and Count St. Cross have grown quite close. Whenever he had to appear in person for a meeting, she would go with him, not only for protection, but as a show of force...the last Feather of the Pheonix was an intimidation to say the least.

She even asked at one point to kill Dax Northender for all the trouble he had caused the Doctor. Count St. Cross told her in no uncertain terms that the downfall of Dax Northender was for him alone to orchestrate. Arch enemies such as he deserved nothing but the Doctor's complete attention in destroying.

When Count St. Cross was hired by the Nazis to run the Panzerverks Initiative, she accompanied him to their secret laboratory. Though she is strictly under his employ, she has overseen the training of an elite unit of Thule Commandos for promotion to Assassin status. Apart from this, she answers to no Nazi, and unless Count St. Cross commands it, she does not do it.

As an assassin, Furia is deadly. She does not linger in the killing of her targets, preferring things to be quick and efficient. She will not, however, flinch from making a mess when the need calls for a message to be sent or a statement made. She uses a wide variety of fire-arms with practiced ease, but if the choice is hers, she prefers the sword. To her, it is the most romantic of weapons, and affords the most beauty in executing her work.

As a woman, Furia is a firey image of sex appeal. She has a passion for men and seduction, but when it comes to killing, she is a cold perfectionist. Furia has exceptional taste. Having loved the training she received in society and ettiquette, her pallette has evolved to an expensive level. She has a love of fashion, wine, and material things, but her favorite feeling in the world is walking away from everything she owns to start out fresh. Every time they move to a new city or hideout, she delights in leaving everything behind, never to return to it. In this way, she is much like the Pheonix, always longing to be reborn.

As a final note, if Furia were ever to find the girl who slaughtered the rest of the Pheonix, she would drop everything to kill her on sight. Till then...she remains the right hand of Count St. Cross.
