Character Biography

Destined to be one of the crowning achievements of the Panzerverks Weapons Initiative, the ELECTRONAUT is a robotic soldier, featuring Dr. Nemsis' breakthroughs in remote control technology. The most sinister part of the design, however cannot be credited to the evil mastermind. The Electronaut is in fact, built on the stolen designs of Nikola Tesla's DEATH RAY.

When Germany declined to pay the exorbanant price Tesla was asking, Dr. Count St. Cross dispatched Furia to go to America and steal the plans from the great inventor. How she accomplished this was never revealed, but rarely is Furia denied what she wants.

Though the Teleforce Death Ray was only a design and a theory, it became the basis for the M.T.I. The frame of the robotic soldier is not designed for speed and agility, but rather for sturdy mobility. Standing roughly the height of a normal man, the legs and arms are composed of coiled metal, all leading to a large metallic orb in the center of the robot's chest. The entire construction acts as a walking Tesla Coil, and when the Electronaut is operational, arcs of violent electricity erupt from the robot's chest orb in a frightening and dazzling display.

The head is the final piece. Looking more like a large mounted flashlight than anything else, this is the beam emitter. When the Electronaut reaches full charge, the head fires an intensely destructive particle beam capable (in theory,) of destroying anything from a column of tanks to an entire city block. The duration of the beam will probably only be measured in seconds, and its re-fire rate will probably require several minutes to re-calibrate.

All of this is hypothetical because a successful field test had yet to be carried-out by the time of the Midnight Men's assembly. According to Agent Echo, however, the Electronauts were completed before the end of the war, and were solely instrumental in the Nazi's eventual invasion of Britain. The work done on the M.T.I.'s would also lead to the A.T.F.'s, or "Aerial Teleforce Fighters," a Death Ray incorporated into an aircraft that would lead to the eventual surrender of America to the Axis powers.

The prototype Electronaut is a slowly moving, cumbersome robot. It is radio-controlled, requiring that an operator be within line-of sight of the unit. It also requires a small support team for transport and deployment, as well as to make on-the-spot repairs and remove obstructions from under the robot's feet. The droid is also vulnerable to enemy attack, especially while recharging , which has prompted the training of a specialized division of Thule Commandos to escort and protect the Electronaut while in the field.

It cannot be stressed enough that the Teleforce weapons program, if realized, would be the single greatest downfall of the Allied powers, and hence, the utmost objective of the Midnight Men.
