Character Biography

Rarely in the history of the world, has there been a man capable of such diabolical brilliance as Count St. Cross. Some of the most sinister events of the early 20th century had him somewhere in the background. The downfall of Tsar Nikolas, the abduction of the Child of Light, the Robot Invasion from Planet X...all of these he had a hand in, if not devising them entirely himself.

A genius in both science and social engineering, he has grown wealthy beyond the means of most men, and influential with all the worst people. His inventions have included the Oslo Automaton, the Breakwater Needle rifle, and the dreaded Count St. Cross Serum. He has very little care for human life, and would undoubtedly sacrifice every living thing on the planet if it meant getting one breakthrough closer to his intended masterpiece...the Zero Device.

To such an end, he has come into conflict with Dax Northender on many occasions. and vicious have been the intellectual battles they've fought. Their last conflict, where Dax and Sam foiled his attempt to steal the fabled "Tear of Vishnu," (a meteorite with untold properties,) left the evil Doctor exposed and his Geneva accounts frozen.

Luckily for the Count, Hitler was ready to march on Eastern Europe. The Third Reich was well under way with their invasion plan, but they required someone to head-up their secret weapons program, “The PANZERVERKS INITIATIVE.” Count St. Cross was already a leading authority on remote control, electrical engineering and magnetism, and he was in need of both refuge and money. He accepted Hitler’s offer, and he and Furia were moved to the secret Panzerverks Labs.

Hitler required a Master Weapon for the coming war. Without it, his victory could not be certain. Something needed to be designed that would tip the balance of power well into the Nazi favor…something that would force the great nations of the world into surrender based on threat alone. That was his mandate, and Count St. Cross went to work.

He was allocated some of the best and brightest scientific minds of the Reich, and they began work on a number of ideas. By the time Agent Echo arrived from the future, Panzerverks was in the development stage on several projects, but none yet had been deployed for proper field testing. It was only a matter of time, however before Count St. Cross was ready to unleash his creations on the Allied armies.

Count St. Cross has never been much for physical combat. He is a trained swordsman to be sure, but rarely wishes to stoop to brute force when he has people like Furia around for that very reason. He is a tall and slender man, well dressed, and well coifed. He has had the finest schooling that money can buy, and his manners are without reproach. Were it not for his malicious passions, he might integrate well into the ranks of the world’s elite. But Count St. Cross sees no equal in any man, and has little patience for conversation beneath his level of intellect. He enjoys Furia’s company, not only because of her sex appeal, but because of her candor. She always says what she means, and has never once been impressed with his intelligence. He likes to think that she keeps him humble…were that actually possible.

In his darkest dreams, he yearns for the day that he and Dax Northender will have their final battle. The few free moments of his time are spent planning for that showdown, and when the time comes, he plans to be ready…ready, and brilliant. So much so in fact that he would probably postpone a fight if everything were not absolutely perfect.

Inevitably, that day will come…and both men know it.
